On the Fifth Day of Christmas

Friday

Ring stacking is all the rage and has been since last summer (and don't look for it to slow down any time soon).  There's an art to it and a great way is to start with a classic ring set.  Cigar rings are great way to glam up you look and transition easily with your favorite rings you already own.

This ring set makes a perfect gift for that fashionista in the family, or your bestie (who already had her eye on these probably anyway).

RocksBox October Product Review

Tuesday

As cold weather sneaks up on us, it's vital to have transitional pieces to go with our luxe, textured fabrics of the season.  This Rocksbox set (put together by my awesome stylist) sums up everything we need to know about how to accessorize this fall.

Blackbird Collar Necklace

It's almost not fair for me to review anything about House of Harlow jewelry because {one} Nicole Richie is one of my fashion idols {two} I've used House of Harlow accessories for numerous photo styling projects and I love her style, I'll admit it I'm biased.  So with this piece, I'll cut to the chase.  The length is perfect to a v-neck top and the design is simple but is a great accent to any outfit.  The weight is light enough to not weigh down too much but also heavy enough to not move on it's own while wearing.  Perfection, in my opinion.

 Chloe Diamond Studs

If you've ready any of my other reviews you'll know how I feel about Gorjana's chic designs.  The simple hammered texture of these diamond shaped studs dresses up and outfit, while adding interest at the same time.  If I've learned anything at all from Gorjana, it's how to look timeless and chic without being decked out in bling.

Bling On Bracelet
Urban Gem

I always love receiving Urban Gem pieces in my sets, my absolute favorite jewelry vendor with Rocksbox hands down.  I love pave and the chain design is very classic and can be worn with any outfit this fall.  This bracelet is a must have not only for the design but the weight is very light (compared to other chain bracelets that I own, sorry J.Crew but we still adore you) which can be a plus if you give say presentations, style for photoshoots, sit at a computer at work (ehem).

This Rocksbox set literally read my mind (and my heart) because I absolutely love everything from this set!   Although I was already familiar with all of the vendors, the pieces that were chosen for me from my stylist surprised me because honestly I was surprised by the amazing designs.I work with House of Harlow alot with clients, so I am pretty familiar with her pieces but I've never come across this necklace from this set.  In essence, I'm honestly loving everything and can't believe how spot on my stylist got it.

Product Review Tuesday: Rocksbox August

This month, my stylist sent me some very stylish and seek pieces that can easily be paired with dressy or casual looks.  What I love about this set is that although they are all different designers, they can be worn together or separately and look amazing.

Pale Pink Druzy Quartz and 14kt Gold Necklace
Christine Lily

This dainty simple necklace is a perfect piece if large statement jewelry isn't your thing.  I love the druzy look and pale pink (and really any soft color) goes perfectly with anything in my wardrobe.  As you can tell from the photos, it can also give any vintage look a modern edge.

Elea Cuff
 Gorjana

It's not really fair for me to judge Gorjana because I already love anything Gorjana.  With that said, I decided to try something different with this piece and wear it backwards.  What I love about cuffs are that sometimes you can actually do that and due to the modern frame design of this piece, it actually looks great too.

 Photo: Rocksbox

As you can see from the photo, the cuff has an attractive criss cross design, and is also slightly flexible to fit any wrist. The hammered detailing also adds an "other worldly" sort of vibe which looks great paired with your late summer outfits and can also look classy with your fall pieces as well.

Faceted Teal Drop Earrings
Lucas Jack

Lucas Jack is a new vendor to me and now possibly a new favorite not only because I love the modern, sleek look of his jewelry but moreso what the company stands for.  Lucas Jack is a fairly new London based company which started in 2006 and uses not mined but recycled gold/metals to make their jewelry and if that isn't enough, a portion of all online sales goes towards children's charity.  So obviously, this lovely pair of earrings is gold plated with recycled gold metal and has a rich jewel toned teal color gem in the middle.  I personally don't like dangle earrings all too much, so this pair of earrings was perfect because they don't move at all and just look fabulous.

The pieces from this box surprised me (in a good way) because unlike last time, they all went together as a set.  The colors went well with my wardrobe, they all were similar in size and metal and told a story with my clothes really well.  I'll be honest though, I wasn't in love with these pieces initially simply because I am more attracted to larger statement pieces but slowing I'm starting to have a strong affection for simple jewelry and a secret love affair with Marc Jacobs, so it was fate that I received everything in this box.  There's definitely something to be said about simple jewelry and how less is definitely more.  In this case, less gives class a whole new light.  So in the end, would I buy/recommend any of these pieces?  Yes, most definitely.

How to Wear Sneakers Like a Fashion Girl

Saturday

It's safe to say that the sporty look has been the thing since spring.  Here are some really great examples on how to continue the look into the cooler months.

Photo: Garance Dore

The Olsen's keep their look chic with simple sneakers to complete their business casual look.

Photo: Camille Over the Rainbow

Luxe is big this Fall, so pairing animal print slip ons with an oversized jacket and cropped leather pants make the perfect weekend look.

Who says you can't go preppy with sneakers?  Just pair your favorite sneaks with a wool pea coat,  a cable knit sweater and a structured bag for instant gold.

Photo: HonestlyWTF

Want to rock this look to work (maybe not at work)?  Running shoes look great with a long pencil skirt and a loose fitting top.  For an added bonus, style an oversized jacket over your shoulders with retro inspired sunnies for a too cool for school look.

Here's an easy weekend look I created all styled around this season's favorite sneaker, the slip on.

Product Review Tuesday: Rocksbox

Tuesday

Rocksbox was a completely different experience for me than other "mystery box" companies.  I feel like each and every one has their own thing, and I'm not going to lie I really love their style.

Basically, you get sent a few pieces of fabulous jewelry every month, picked out for you by your own personal stylist based on your likes and dislikes (how cool is that).  You can keep them as long as you want, and when you're done send them back.  If you find a piece that you absolutely can't part with, send back the others (and be sure to rate them) and you'll be charged for the piece(s) you keep.  It's that simple.

Every month, you receive your baubles in a beautifully packaged Rockbox box, with a little note from your stylist.  This is what I received this month and I'll be honest, I was pretty impressed.  Based on a few questions, my personal stylist quickly assumed that I love bling (umm yes) and something with classic lines.

Sierra Necklace in Crystal
Urban Gem

I'll be honest, when I first signed up wtih Rocksbox I wanted this necklace bad.  I've been looking for a necklace this size and shape for my wedding, so I knew right away this was it.  Unfortuneately, you can't really shop (although you can see designer samples) current jewelry, but not all of the designers are listed.  In a sense, that is a good thing because that way there's always that element of surprise (plus they are probably always finding new and exciting vendors).  In my case, I lucked out completely because from what I have read, Urban Gem is fabulous.  Basically they're the go-to for stylists and celebs around the glove and are sought after due to their modern vintage appeal.  Obviously they are amazing, so amazing they don't have a website but are carried through Rocksbox so I'm all for it.

Purple Frost Louvre Resin Ring

I have a very open mind when it comes to jewelry.  I'm usually all about the statement jewelry and glam, but I also have pieces that are similiar to Isharya's ring as well.  This ring really stood out to me when I first opened the Rocksbox box and I immediately fell in love with the gold detailing.  If you aren't familiar with Isharya, they are an Indian jewelry company with a modern twist so most of their pieces are gold and very unique.  I'm not a big ring person, but this ring is definitely different and goes with so much of my wardrobe already it was hard to not love it.

Lula Pyramid Studs in Ocean Blue

I almost freaked out a little when I saw that I had some Gorjana earrings in my Rocksbox collection.  No seriously.  I love Gorjana.  My stylist picked that up early on and apparently based this whole grouping around these earrings.  These studs are so perfect.  I love the color, the lines and the gold detailing, just so classic and modern.  Although I wish these were much larger, they are still very beautiful and would look great layered with other earrings or to dress up any casual outfit.

I really love surprises so it's safe to say that I'm a fan of the "mystery box".  I love that each and every "mystery box" type company is different and overall my experience with Rocksbox was a good one.  I love the fact that you work closely with a personal stylist (that is a person) and you have input about what kind of jewelry you are recieving every month.  I especially love the look and style of peices that Rocksbox has as a whole, they are very stylist, modern, and some vendors have a vintage influence.  I find it very interesting the different styles that each and every "mystery box" company has and who their target demographic is and how they market their products to them.  With Rocksbox, I have the comfort of knowing what I'm going to get for the month, even though I don't know what any of the pieces will look like.  I feel like people who aren't really into the modern look think that pieces that are modern look basic, but in my opinion the pieces that Rocksbox carries are anything but that.  If anything they are really great for layering and by themselves small or large statement pieces that you can wear forever (even if you're just borrowing them).
