My Recent Interview on the Importance of Creative Marketing (and how to do it)

Thursday

Recently, Debbie from Work Your Art asked to interview me on the business of creative marketing, how that effects my career as a photo stylist and to show some of my recent work.  If you have a career (or want one) in a creative field, you will have to have some sort of idea or plan on how to market yourself and your work.  Sounds great, right?  Of course, so how do you do it?  Check out the interview for a the essentials (and check out Work Your Art for more helpful tips on jump starting your creative career)

Here's a sneak peek

D:  How would you describe your work?
A:  My work is vintage inspired with a touch of modern.  As a child, I was very close to my grandparents and I would watch old movies and shows all throughout my childhood, so needless to say it shows up in my work.

D:  Do you have a lot of competition in your field? What do you do to stand out from the crowd?
A:   Yes, as a photo stylist there is a ton of competition out there.  Jobs are mainly freelance or contract jobs so you really need to stand out period, and to do that you need to do the research and have the portfolio and experience to get the job done.

D:  What is the best compliment you’ve ever gotten about your work?
A:  “Did you do this for Anthropologie?”
